NVIDIA GR00T
In brief
NVIDIA GR00T (Generalist Robot 00 Technology) is NVIDIA's foundation-model platform for humanoid robotics. It provides a pretrained base model plus a synthetic-data + simulation pipeline (Isaac Sim) so manufacturers can fine-tune control policies without training from scratch.
GR00T is NVIDIA's bet that humanoid robotics will follow the GPT-style trajectory — one large pretrained model, then per-application fine-tuning. The platform combines the GR00T base model, Isaac Sim for simulation, Isaac Lab for policy training, and Cosmos as a world-model layer. Several humanoid manufacturers (1X, Figure, Apptronik, Unitree) have been named as GR00T partners.
For a humanoid manufacturer, adopting GR00T trades off some platform independence for huge data and compute leverage. For NVIDIA, GR00T is also a way to anchor humanoid silicon (Jetson Thor) and software demand.
