Humanoid robot news for August 17 to 24, 2026 was a China week. Unitree turned its Shanghai listing into one of the year's loudest market debuts, Beijing ran the World Robot Conference and opened the second World Humanoid Robot Games, and BYD's showroom humanoid finally appeared as a working unit. None of it changed what a buyer in the US or Europe can order today, which is the line this brief keeps drawing. BYD's Xiao Di humanoid, flagged here last week as an unverified plan, has now appeared as a working unit at BYD's Di Space centre in Zhengzhou. Reported specs are about 1.61 metres, 58.5 kilograms and 31 degrees of freedom, with real-time translation across several Chinese dialects and foreign languages (SCMP). Its stated job is to greet and sell on car showroom floors, and BYD has published no price or order route. No new verified US or European humanoid deployment, funding round or order-page change cleared a reputable source this week.
