Agility Robotics unveiled Digit 5, a new humanoid designed to safely work alongside people without the physical barriers required by earlier models. It lifts 50 pounds, reaches 7.2 feet, and can work more than 20 hours in a 24 hour day on 90 minute charges that refill in nine minutes. Early access begins in the first half of 2027, with general availability by the end of that year.

KIMLAB at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has built Ringbot Quad, a monocycle robot that throws out the usual drivetrain and instead puts four individually powered modules inside a single ring shaped wheel, each one topped with an articulated leg. In driving mode the legs handle balance and steering while the ring rolls along; in walking mode they take the full weight of the body and it moves like a quadruped. The compact prototype comes from Kevin Gim and Joohyung Kim, and the work was presented at ICRA 2026 in Vienna.
