Key takeaways

The most recent headlines show that China’s humanoid‑robot sector is moving from high‑profile demos to real‑world adoption, with companies such as Galbot, Unitree and others securing large funding rounds and demonstrating reliable operation in everyday settings, a shift highlighted in a June 9 2026 TechCrunch report. In Japan, telecom operator KDDI has deepened its tie‑up with digital‑avatar maker Avita and expects to be ready for commercial trials of its humanoid robots by autumn 2026, positioning the devices for possible use in KDDI retail outlets. Meanwhile, researchers at Georgia Tech announced a new “thinking” control system that markedly improves balance and agility for two‑legged robots, underscoring progress in walking stability as of early March 2026. On the consumer front, Honor showcased a working humanoid robot with dancing and back‑flip capabilities at Mobile World Congress 2026, signalling its intent to market a robot designed for shopping assistance, workplace inspections and companionship. In the automotive arena, Tesla confirmed that sales of its Optimus humanoid will finally begin in 2026 after a delayed rollout, while Mercedes‑Benz and other manufacturers continue to explore limited deployments in logistics and production environments. Together, these developments illustrate a rapid acceleration of both industrial and consumer‑focused humanoid‑robot initiatives worldwide.

As humanoid robots continue to draw attention from global technology, investment, and industrial leaders, the “Big 5” humanoid developers of China will gather in South Korea for the first time next week.

Smart Factory & Automation World (AW) 2026, which described itself as “Asia’s leading manufacturing AX expo,” announced that AGIBOT, Fourier, Huawei, Leju, and Unitree have confirmed their participation. The companies will exhibit and speak at the China Humanoid Robot Conference, or “China Humanoid: First Journey to Korea,” affiliated with AW 2026. Jiang Chengyi, head of solutions at Unitree; Zhou Bin, co-founder of Fourier; and Ren Guangjie, head of solutions at Leju, will deliver keynote addresses. They will discuss the country‘s humanoid robotics strategies, commercialization roadmaps, and global expansion plans.

AGIBOT, which claimed to be the world’s No. 1 company in global robot shipments and market share, plans to demonstrate its X2 and G2 humanoids. In addition, Unitree will show its G1, and Leju will show its Kuavo 4th Generation Pro and Kuavo 4 Pro robots.

Huawei, a leading player in China’s core technology development, will present real-world applications of its embedded humanoid robotics technologies. Home News Technologies
