Humanoid Robotics Industry Awards winners announced
Humanoid Robotics Technology is proud to announce the winners of the Humanoid Robotics Industry Awards 2025, recognising the remarkable contributions of individuals, organisations, and technologies advancing the humanoid robotics industry. The 2025 Awards are in five categories: Industry Leadership, Outstanding Company, Outstanding Research Organisation, Groundbreaking Technology, and Best Use of AI.
Category: Outstanding Research Organisation
Winner: IHMC The Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) is a not-for-profit research institute of the Florida University System. At IHMC, they have developed Nadia, a hydraulic humanoid robot designed to serve as a new platform for research in locomotion and control. Researchers at IHMC developed Anticipatory and Adaptive Footstep Streaming for Teleoperated Bipedal Robots. It retargets user steps to robot footstep locations, allowing the robot to utilise its own dynamics for locomotion, ensuring better balance and stability. The method anticipates user footsteps to minimise delays between when the user initiates and completes a step and when the robot does it. Additionally, the system autonomously adjusts the robot’s steps to account for its surrounding terrain, overcoming challenges posed by environmental mismatches between the user’s flat-ground setup and the robot’s uneven terrain. “We are thrilled to receive this recognition for Outstanding Research Organisation in the inaugural Humanoid Robotics Industry Awards,” said Dr. Morley Stone, CEO, IHMC. “IHMC is indeed a special place, where researchers work together across many disciplines every day to push the envelope in terms of what is possible in humanoid robotics and human-machine teaming. To have the worldwide humanoid community recognize us and our work is an honour.” “As proud sponsors of the Humanoid Robotics Technology awards, and on behalf of the entire global Novanta family, we would like to congratulate Jérôme Monceaux, NEURA Robotics, IHMC, Wandercraf and Macco Robotics for their achievements across this year’s award categories,” said Jason Lund, President and General Manager, Robotics and Automation, Novanta. “We wish you, and all the outstanding nominees, every success as you continue your remarkable journeys. Your dedication, collaboration, and drive for innovation and excellence continue to inspire both us and the wider industry.” Jack Hallewell, Co-Founder of Humanoid Robotics Technology, added: “Congratulations to this year’s winners and finalists for their remarkable work advancing humanoid robotics and driving the industry’s growth. We’re proud to be part of this exciting journey and inspired by the ongoing achievements of the humanoid robotics community. We extend our sincere thanks to our partner Novanta and to the thousands of people who voted and supported the awards.” **Disclaimer:**Robotics Update is not responsible for the content of submitted or externally produced articles and images.
